After its opening in the summer of 2020, L’Amour du Pain at “Rue Otto Bauer 21” quickly became a pilgrimage site for lovers of French baking in Vienna.
When we started with the brand development, we knew immediately that it would be a mistake to pick up tourist clichés, or too much Francophile nostalgia in our design.
We therefore created something original that was inspired by French culture, but could speak for itself independently and could constantly evolve over the coming years.
It was important to us that the baked products were presented in a way that was appealing artistically and, above all, decidedly different from the visual language of the competition. We commissioned the photographers Erli Grünzweil and Susanna Hofer for a series of six still lives, as their style perfectly matched our vision of the L’Amour du Pain brand.
THE WONDERFULLY ATTRACTIVE PÂTISSERIE, WITH SUCH APPEALING NAMES AS ECLAIR CARAMEL SALÉ, CARALACTÉ CHARMEL OR MILLE FEUILLES, SEDUCES VISITORS ANEW EVERY DAY.
Over the past few years, we have designed numerous applications, such as the website, customised packaging, a totebaguette (a cotton bag for 2 baguettes) and a jumper in collaboration with the local, sustainable fashion brand Glein.
As the basis of our design, we chose the typeface Nikolai, which has both a timeless and contemporary feel and was published in 2020. It was created by type designer Franziska Weitgruber. We deliberately kept the colour palette minimalist. In some applications, we added illustrations for a human and playful touch.
